GRID from zero, 7 of 7: join from Taifoon Hosting, and see every vault your wallet fills

Part 7 of 7 in GRID from zero. New here? Start with part 1, what the GRID is: this post uses the words the earlier parts introduce.

The GRID is the network of machines that Taifoon sells as one provider: community GPUs, RPC endpoints, storage and FPGAs, each probed by the oracle, each paid for what it measured. Two things changed today. Joining has a door under Taifoon Hosting, and every person who joins has a cockpit.

One door, four kinds

taifoon.io/hosting/join is the join flow, and grid.taifoon.dev now leads to it too. The list is kept short on purpose. These are the kinds we measure and sell:

  • GPU: paid for inference the gateway verified itself, a fresh battery of questions at temperature 0, exact answers only
  • RPC endpoint: probed on a schedule; liveness is measured, and a healthy probe is what pays
  • Storage: a Merkle commitment of a seed-derived blob, challenged on random chunks
  • FPGA: measured and ranked by a lane challenge; it earns no GRID until a verifier can tell an FPGA from a fast CPU

You pick a kind, set two or three fields, and run one command. The node registers with the coordination layer, and Taifoon stays the one provider every buyer sees. You open no account anywhere else.

Your cockpit

/hosting/resources opens with your wallet: one signed message, no transaction, no gas. It shows that wallet its own portfolio, and nobody else's.

  • Resources: one line per kind, and one row per resource, with its trust (proven, measured or claimed), its health, the GRID it accrued and its last probe. A claim is shown as a claim and earns nothing.
  • Vaults: every vault tied to the wallet, each read where it lives:

- your account vault, one per account from its first key - the enclave vaults you own - your GRID, settled soulbound every six hours and measured on the ledger - the pool you run - the GRID bonus pools

  • Your share: what routes through your resources under the Taifoon Sustainable Use License, 70 % to you, 20 % to the graders, 10 % to the ecosystem.

A source that did not answer shows a dash, never a zero. Arming a vault, topping it up and managing keys stay in the cockpit, signed by your wallet only.

What is open and what is not

The bonus pools are written in one register, and the cockpit reads them from it (part 4 explains each one).

  • GRID join bonus: one day of the kind's live rate at a resource's first passing probe.
  • Installation airdrop: 1,000 USDC for installs that pass a UTC day of probes, one grant per owner wallet.
  • FPGA join pool: 1,000 USDC for FPGA owners, granted after review.

All three are tagged BUILDING. None is open yet, and none pays until it is funded and opened. The cockpit shows where your wallet stands against each rule today, and the tag changes when a pool opens.

Storage is priced by the broker, not by us. It reads the price pages of the storage markets that answer the same S3 calls. The anchor is the cheapest one, and the price is the backing tier plus Taifoon's one cut.
