X1 EcoChain Testnet Is Under the Root

The chain

X1 EcoChain describes itself as a low-energy layer 1 run on small, purpose-built nodes. Its public testnet, Maculatus, is an EVM chain (chain id 10778) producing a block about every three seconds. Its explorer counts tens of millions of transactions and several hundred thousand a day.

Under the root since July

Our collectors started reading Maculatus on 4 July 2026. Since then, more than 2.3 million of its blocks have gone into its own append-only tree, in 1,125 twigs of 2,048 blocks. Every ten seconds the root of that tree folds into the superroot, next to Ethereum, Solana, Bitcoin and 58 other chains.

So an X1 block is proven exactly like an Ethereum block: one short path of hashes from the block to the chain's root, and from the chain's root to the superroot.

What the proof says

Ask for the newest provable block:

The answer carries the superroot and the 61 chains under it, the X1 block header (number, hash, state root), its position among the chains and the six hashes that lift it into the root, and a finality commitment.

X1 has no finality gadget of its own that we can check, so its finality is typed as confirmation depth: a block counts once it is buried under enough newer blocks. The proof says which rule it used. Chains with stronger finality, like Ethereum checkpoints or Solana's tower consensus, carry their own type instead. A reader never has to guess which rule was applied.

Why it matters for a chain like X1

A young chain has to win trust one integration at a time. Being under the root skips a step: any contract, agent or workflow that already checks Taifoon proofs can check an X1 block the same way, with no new bridge and no new integration.
